TEUTHIS

TEUTHIS (Τεῦθις: Eth. Τευθίδης), a town in the centre of Arcadia, which together wit Theisoa and Methydrium belonged to the confederation (συντέλεια) of Orchomenus. Its inhabitants were removed to Megalopolis upon the foundation of the latter. The Paleócastron of Galatás probably represents presents Teuthis. (Paus. 8.27. § § 4, 7, 28.4; Steph. B. sub voce Ross, Reisen im Peloponnes, vol. i. p.114.)
