founded by Cadmus and fortified by Amphīon and Zethus,

πολυήρατος.—(2) Egyptian Thebes, on the Nile,
called ἑκατόμπυλαι, Ι 381, Od. 4.126.—(3) a city in the
Troad, at the foot of Mt. Placus, the residence of king Eetion, Il. 1.366, Il.
6.397.
