ἅλις (ϝάλις, cf. ἐϝάλην, εἴλω):
crowded together; of persons, ‘in
throngs’; bees, ‘in swarms’; corpses,
‘in heaps.’ Then in plenty, abundantly,
enough;
ἅλις δέ οἱ, he has carried it
‘far enough’ already, Il.
9.376
; ἦ οὐχ ἅλις ὅτι (ὡς), is it not enough (and more
than enough), etc.?
