respected, of those who by their relationship, position, or
circumstances have a claim to deference or merciful treatment, as the
gods, kings, suppliants, mendicants, and the
‘housekeeper’ (ταμίη).—As subst. neut. pl. αἰδοῖα, ‘the parts of shame,’
‘privy parts,’ Il.
