§ 11. When I went to Lampis immediately after his arrival in Athens, he declared that Phormion had neither put goods on board the lost vessel nor given him any remittance for Athens. Evidence is adduced of his statement to that effect. τούτῳ—τὸν νοῦν repeated in § 23. ἐκ τῆς ν. Either ‘from’ or ‘after’ the wreck. ἔνθοιτο Compounds of τἰθεσθαι and ἵεσθαι often assume this form of the optative, though MSS commonly present the other form ἐνθεῖτο, ἐπιθεῖτο &c. Examples of both are given by Veitch, Irreg. Gk. Verbs, s. v. [Cf. Kuhner-Blass Gr. Gr. ii 194.] οὔτε τὸ χρυσίον The change of subject might have been more clearly expressed by οὔτ᾽ αὐτὸς τὸ χρυσίον κ.τ.λ. [Similar phrases recur in §§ 14, 16, 20, 41, 46, 47, 49.] τῶν παραγενομένων Of those present at the interview between me and Lampis at Athens.
