Aen. ix. 106, x. 115. — Phidias embodied in his colossal chryselephantine statue of Zeus at Olympia, the expression of exalted peace and power which lies in vs. 528-530. Zeus's dread of Hera's reproaches is in marked (and almost ludicrous) contrast to this majestic demeanor.
