ὑπερελθόντων: The genitive absolute without a subject is denied for Homer. In P. the construction is to be watched. Undoubted, however, seem to be P. 8.43: ὧδ᾽ εἶπε μαρναμένων, and P. 4.232 (= N. 10.89): ὣς ἄρ᾽ αὐδάσαντος. Here the shift from the dative to the genitive is easy, easier than making ὑπερελθόντων depend on ἀγλαΐαν. ἱεροῖς ἐν ἀέθλοις: O. 8.64: ἐξ ἱερῶν ἀέθλων.
