ὁ μὰν πλοῦτος: μ., a faded oath, by way of confirmation. Often used to meet objections. ἀρεταῖς δεδαιδαλμένος: See O. 13 for a poetic lesson on the necessity of something more than wealth. Cf. P. 5.1: ὁ πλοῦτος εὐρυσθενής, ὅταν τις ἀρετᾷ κεκραμένον καθαρᾷ αὐτὸν ἀνάγῃ | πολύφιλον ἑπέταν.
