Hippo'stratus

2. A general under Antigonus, who was appointed by him to command the army which he left in Media, after the defeat and death of Eumenes, B. C. 216. He was soon after attacked by Meleager, and others of the revolted adherents of Pithon, but repulsed them, and suppressed the insurrection. We know not at what period he was succeeded by Nicanor, whom we find commanding in Media not long afterwards. (Diod. 19.46, 47, 92.)
