Flaccus, Pompo'nius

Pomponius Flaccus, was consul in A. D. 17, and in A. D. 51 he was legate in Upper Germany, and fought successfully against the Chatti, for which he was honoured with the ensigns of a triumph. Tacitus says that his fame as a general was not very great, and that it was eclipsed by his renown as a poet. (
