Meneisa'us
(
*Mene/laos), historical.
1. Father of Amyntas II., king of Macedonia, and grandfather of Philip of Macedon, according to Justin (
7.4) and Aelian (
Ael. VH 12.43).
1 But there is much discrepancy on this point: Dexippus (apud
Syncell. p. 263a.) calls the father of Amyntas Arrhidaeus; and Diodorus (
15.60), Tharraleos. Justin represents him as brother cf Alexander the First, king of Macedonia, which is a gross error. (See Clinton,
F. H. vol. ii. p. 225.)
