Quies

the personification of tranquillity, was worshipped as a divinity by the Romans. A chapel dedicated to her stood on the via Lavicana, probably a pleasant resting-place for the weary traveller ; another sanctuary of her was outside the porta Collina. (Liv. 4.41; August. De Civ. Dei, 4.16, 21.)
