Northrop, Lucius Bellinger 1811-

Military officer; born in Charleston, S. C., Sept. 8, 1811; graduated at the United States Military Academy in 1829; later practised medicine in Charleston; and was restored to the army when Jefferson Davis was Secretary of War. During the Civil War he was commissary-general of the Confedrate army, and made Richmond his headquarters till within a short time before the surrender of Lee.
