Patterson, Daniel Tod 1786-1839

Naval officer; born in New York, March 6, 1786; entered the navy as midshipman in 1800; was with Bainbridge at Tripoli, and mastercommander in 1813. In 1814 he commanded the naval force at and near New Orleans that co-operated with General Jackson in defence of that city. Patterson was active, afloat and ashore, for nearly forty years. He died in Washington, D. C., Aug. 15, 1839.
