Cowell, Benjamin 1781-1860

Historian; born in Wrentham, Mass., in 1781; graduated at Brown University in 1803; settled in Providence, R. I., became chief-justice of the Court of Common Pleas; and was author of The spirit of ‘76. He died in Providence, R. I., May 6, 1860.
