Dickinson, Anna Elizabeth, 1842-

Reformer; born in Philadelphia, Pa., Oct. 28, 1842; made her first appearance among public [115] speakers in 1857, and spoke frequently on temperance and slavery. During the Civil War she was employed by Republican committees to make addresses, and after its conclusion she lectured on reconstruction and on woman's work and wages. She was an ardent advocate for woman's suffrage.
