Gibbons, Joseph 1818-1883

Abolitionist; born in Lancaster, Pa., Aug. 14, 1818; graduated at Jefferson College in 1845; was one of the principal conductors of the “underground railroad,” through which institution he and his father aided hundreds of slaves to freedom. He died in Lancaster, Pa., Dec. 8, 1883.
