Walker, Charles Manning 1834-

Journalist; born in Athens, O., Dec. 25, 1834; graduated at the University of Ohio in 1854; clerk in the United States Treasury Department in 1861-63, and fifth auditor there in 1862-69; head clerk of the Postoffice Department in 1883-85; subsequently became associate editor of the Indianapolis journal. He is the author of History of Athens county, O.; First settlement of Ohio at Marietta; Life of Oliver P. Morton; Life of Alvin P. Hovey, etc.
