Weissenfels, Frederick H., Baron de 1738-1806

Military officer; born in Prussia in 1738; was an officer in the British army; emigrated to the United States in 1763 and settled in Dutchess county, N. Y. He served in the Revolutionary War and was present at the surrender of Burgoyne, and at the battle of Monmouth. He [303] accompanied Gen. John Sullivan in his expedition against the Six Nations in 1779. He died in New Orleans, La., May 14, 1806.
