Bay′o-net-joint.

A peculiar form of coupling, in which one circular piece, having a slot longitudinal for part of its length and transverse the remainder, is sleeved over another. The interior piece is provided with a stud which enters the slot, and, by turning, the two parts become locked so as to prevent withdrawal by a longitudinal movement.
