Organized at Elmira, N. Y., and mustered in for two years May 22, 1861.

Left State for Washington, D. C., June 5, and duty in the Defenses of that city till July.

Attached to Sandford's Division, Patterson's Army, July.

Butterfield's Brigade, Patterson's Army, July 11-29, 1861.

1st Brigade, Banks' Division, Army of the Potomac, to September 15, 1861.

3rd Brigade, Banks' Division, Army of the Potomac, to December, 1861.

Duty near Darnestown till September 24.

Duty on Upper Potomac till December.
