First 8 Companies served as garrison in New York Harbor at Forts Hamilton, LaFayette, Wood, Gibson, Richmond and Schuyler, March 11 to May 27, 1862.

Moved to Baltimore, Md., May 27 and duty there till April 19, 1864.

Companies “A” and “F” detached at Harper's Ferry, W. Va., June 19 to September 15, 1862, participating in actions at Point of Rocks and Berlin September 4-5 (Company “A” ).
