Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan

a city of 75,000 pop., and the great emporium of Michigan, on Detroit River, 18 miles from Lake Erie, having one of the finest harbors on the Lakes. A city of great commercial importance, being connected by railroads with the principal points West, and by means of the Lakes and railroad with the East. Immense quantities of grain, pork, wool and copper ore are shipped from here to Eastern markets. The manufactures are extensive and various. The largest city in the state.
