Removals, Appointments, &c.
--The
Washington papers contain the following announcements relative to changes in offices there:
E. M. Merchant, of
Va., (
Sec.,)-- ... 600 per annum-- in the Sixth Auditor's Greece, has been removed, and
S. M. Edwards (U.) has been promoted to fill the vacancy thus made.
R. Widdicomb (U.) has been promoted to the $1,400 per annum vacancy caused by
Mr. Edwards' promotion; and Nathaniel Page, (U.,) of
Ill., has been appointed to the $1,200 per annum clerkship made vacant by
Mr. Widdicomb's promotion.
Earnest Luff, (U.,) of
Del., has been appointed to a vacant $1,400 per annum clerkship, and
Cyrus Widus, (U.,) of
Va., to a $1,200 per annum clerkship, both in the same Bureau.
J. W. Twyman, of
Kentucky, a first-class clerk, and
H. C. Loving, a second-class clerk, both of the General Land Office, have been removed.
