Retaliation.

The Black Republican ruffians and cut-throats, who expect to invade the South with impunity, to set our cities on fire, lay waste our fields, and bring blood and shame upon our whole land, whilst they sit safely and comfortably at home, reading the accounts in the newspapers, are reckoning without their host. The meanest worm that treads the earth will turn upon the foot that crushes it, and the most high-spirited people in the world are not to be assailed in all they hold dear, without retaliation and vengeance. The South will strike hard at her assassins, with all the energy of powerful passion, and make them feel, in their own homes and firesides, those deadly curses they are aiming at our heads.--We rejoice to hear, from the Richmond Enquirer, that nothing is more probable than that President Davis will soon march an army through North Carolina and Virginia to Washington, and those of our volunteers who desire to join the Southern army, as it shall pass through our borders, and at the same time protect Virginia from the Black Republican hordes whom the Administration is mustering at Washington, are advised to organize at once for that purpose, and keep their arms, accoutrements, uniform, ammunition and knapsacks in constant readiness.-- The fire that these incendiaries have kindled in Charleston will involve every city the North has on the borders, until the whole land is enveloped in flames. Let us hope that the first bolt of retribution will fall on the heads of Lincoln and his Cabinet, beginning with Seward, the most artful, unscrupulous and malignant of the subtle and murderous crew.
