From Charleston.

Charleston, April 18.
--The Confederate loan is being rapidly taken; $220,000 have been taken in this city. The average quota of the State is set down at $1,250,000.

A requisition has been made on South Carolina for 5,000 men, for what service is unknown.

The news of the secession of Virginia was received with great joy. The old secession gun was fired in front of the Courier office, by the venerable Edmund Ruffin. The old gentleman was surrounded by many Virginians, who cheered lustily.
