--On yesterday ‘"not a drum was heard,"’ or, indeed, any notes from ‘ "sonorous metal-blowing martial sounds,"’ the walking being so wretched as to preclude all idea of military display on the streets. At the Fair Grounds ‘"guard mounting"’ and the evening parade, in which thousands of the troops participated, was witnessed as usual by hundreds of citizens of both sexes.
