Punishment of Treasen.

The New York Herald is good enough to inform the country that, under the laws of the United States, every individual who takes up arms against the Yankees in the seceding States, is liable to the punishment of death. We are inclined to think that those who take up arms against us will be ‘"liable"’ to the same punishment, if they will come within reach of our rifies. Can Sawney imagine that Death has less terror to noble minds than existence in a land where patricts can be punished by the halter, and such creatures as himself permitted to live?
