A Card.
--in Friday's examiner of last week, appeared an article, signed Adeline, severely censuring a clothing manufacturer of this city, for charging military companies for making their uniforms of different kinds, and having the same uniforms made by the benevolent ladies of the churches of the city, and not paying them for the work. Having learned from various personal friends that my name has been connected with that charge. I deem it proper to give it an emphatic denial, and I trust that Adeline will do me the justice to state to the community that I am not the person alluded to, or I must ask an investigation at the hands of the church from which it emanates. I would state that I have sent to goods to any church in one instance I cut some suite to accommodateCapt.Grammon's company, if Pittsylvania county, and thosesnhimself to the Rev. C.Msaid a church, and for which he paid me for the cutting and trimmings furnished, Further than that I have had no transaction with any church, and I am ready at any moment for any investigation into such matter with any person or persons, or church. Very respectfully, Wm.Ira Smith.
