--Mr. David B. Bridgford, of the First Regiment of Virginia Volunteers, was yesterday commissioned as Captain in the Provisional Army of Virginia, and reported himself subject to orders. Capt. B. is a staff officer of our city regiment; but as it was not mustered into service as a whole, but by companies, he would have been thrown out had not the Governor deemed it proper to avail himself of Captain Bridgford's services in the above way. If the appointee is put in the Commissary Department, we would be willing to guarantee that his part of the duties would be performed efficiently and well.
