Gen. Butler.

Major General Butler, who has just taken command at Fortress Monroe, is said to have been an old Massachusetts Democrat. We observe that some of our contemporaries compare him with the late ‘"Stated Preaching Butler"’ of New York. The name, Benjamin F. Butler is the same, but the New Yorker, who was a lawyer of eminence and also a Democratic politician, died some years ago.
