From Norfolk.
[special correspondence of the Dispatch.]

Norfolk,Va., June 6, 1861.
Yesterday morning, between 8 and 9 o'clock, the fourth battle was fought in this vicinity. From a gentleman just from the scene of conflict, I am indebted for the following particulars:

‘ The steamer Harriet Lane approached in the neighborhood of Pig's Point; her mission being to make some soundings off that place, but, not understanding the location of the battery at that point, fired a number of guns before any response was made. Fifty-seven shots were fired from the steamer, one striking the mouth of one of our cannon, breaking off a small piece.

Another struck the top of one of our tents, throwing it down, and in its course, came in contact with an old barn in the neighborhood, doing no serious damage. Twenty-seven guns were fired from our battery, seven well-directed shots supposed to have taken effect in the side of the steamer, which caused her rapid retreat.

That the result of our shots were as stated, my informant does not question. Her rapid retreat from the action certainly justifies the belief.

The behavior of our men on this, as well as on all occasions, was creditable in the main.

Capt. Young, who is commander at this point, expresses his unqualified approval of his skill and bravery of his men. Nobody was hurt on our side, but a different result, it is thought, has happened to the enemy.

The greatest regret expressed is, that, the steamer did not approach nearer, when a warmer reception would have been her lot.

Luna.
