Cows.

--The lacteal founts which are the distinguishing characteristic of the above quadruped, renders her invaluable to the human race; albeit, the fluid which she contributes so liberally has been brought into much contempt by the opposition of water and chalk, two ingredients which are very often made by judicious admixture to represent the real article. As useful as cows are, they sometimes get to be nuisances. This is especially the case when they are permitted to run around loose, as many in this city are allowed by their owners to do. The practice should be reformed altogether.
