Death from Hydrophobia.
--A most distressing death from this terrible disease occurred in
Saugus, Mass., on Sunday.
Julia Fitzpatrick, aged 10 years, daughter of
Mr. John Fitzpatrick, was slightly bitten by a dog about six weeks ago. The animal was supposed to be mad, and was killed.
As there was only a trifling mark upon the child's lip, it was believed that it might have been caused by the dog running against her, thus making her bite her own lip. Nothing further was heard of the matter until last Saturday, when she was suddenly taken ill, and so rapidly was the disease developed, and after intense suffering, in which, during her spasms, she imitated the bark and howl of a dog, she died on Sunday noon. During her lucid intervals she begged those about her not to drown her.
