A peace Ambassador.

--The Paris Moniteur, of the 15th of May, contains this announcement:

‘ "In consequence of the perplexity into which the great and powerful cotton interest is now plunged, it ought not to surprise any to learn that doubtless very soon an eminent English statesman will visit the United States to make a pacific proposition to the contending parties there. It will be a personage towards whom all eyes will be turned as he undertakes to perform his task."
