Fatal Occurrence.

--Mr. Charles Van Dam, formerly connected with an artillery corps in the Belgian service, but lately engaged in the cap manufactory on Old Bridge street, in this city, was instantly killed at ten o'clock yesterday morning by the explosion of a batch of percussion caps, upon which he was at work. The explosion drove the steel plate through his head, inflicting a ghastly wound, and producing immediate death.--Nashville Gaz., 7th.
