Meeting to sustain Major Anderson in Philadelphia.
Philadelphia, Jan, 6.
--An immense meeting was held here last night, in National Hall, to sustain Major Anderson. Five thousand persons were present.
D. Lewis presided, assisted by Commodore Stewart, Major General Robert Patterson, and others.
Resolutions were adopted heartily approving of the conduct of Major Anderson; calling on the President to provide him with all the force be requires for the defence of his position: declaring that all persons who wage war against the United States, and all who aid, counsel and sanction them, public enemies, and declaring that the American flag shall be protected to the last extremity.
Speeches were made by J. Murry Rush, Democrat; Charles Gibbons, Republican, and Mark Munday, Union, The enthusiasm was intense.
