--Deacon Chase, of Holyoke, Mass. enjoys that species of enlargement of the heart which finds relief in enlarging the distance between the sunny South and the flying slave. A week ago his "speciality" had a chance to operate. A negro called upon him and asked his assistance to reach free and happy Canada. A ticket for Montreal and some money were soon forth coming. At Bellows Falls the darkey sold his ticket for half-price, proceeded to Keene, New Hampshire, and had a grand sprees, declaring that he "never had no notion of gwine to Canada, to be friz to death." It was not the first time he had visited Keene. Three years ago he was there on a similar mission, and was put through to Marlow upon the strength of a letter from Horace Greeley, which he exhibited.-- Providence (R. I.) Journal.
