Bad boys.

--Four lads of small size, named Daniel Murphy, Pat. Callaher, Thos. Dobson and Mat. Callaher, were carried before the Mayor yesterday for disorderly conduct and breaking the door of Mrs. E, Fenhauser. It appears that the lads on Monday entered the complainant's house (she keeps an eating establishment) and called for refreshments, which they utterly refused to pay for. Thinking that she could manage them by a little judicious coercion, madame closed her door and announced that they could not leave till they had settled up. This did not have the desired effect, for a vigorous assault was immediately commenced on Mrs. F. and her door — the former being knocked down and the latter kicked open in the melee. Daniel Murphy discharged a pistol in the direction of Mrs. F., though the ball did not strike her. Afterwards the four youngsters were caught and incarcerated in the upper Station-House. The Mayor had no authority to ‘"tickle"’ the offenders, and wisely concluding it would not improve their morals to put them in jail, to mingle promiscuously with the hardened offenders therein, sent them back to the cage for a brief season.
