--A company has just been started in Paris, on strictly high Church principles, for the sale of a newly-invented winding sheet for burials. ‘"It is high time, says the prospectus,"’ ‘"that man, on quitting this life, should cease to be frightful or ridiculous; he is frightful if wrapped in a common sheet, and ridiculous if dressed in his ordinary mundane attire. The newly-invented winding sheet supplies a desideratum; the religious emblems with which it is ornamented make it a costume the aspect of which inspires nothing but feelings of consoling resignation."’
