A vigorous war.
We have reason to believe that the Confederate Government, instead of relaxing in any degree its preparations for a protracted war, on account of the late victory, will prepare to prosecute it with redoubled energy.
Every financial and military resource of the
Southern States will be developed for the defence of our soil against the most wicked and inhuman invasion that was ever carried on against any people.
The precious Southern blood that has been already spilled on our soil, and the infamies that Republic in monsters have committed against the weak and defenceless, call for the most complete vengeance, and all our Future summons the
South to rise as one man, pour forth her legions, and resist at the threshold and to the death these enemies of humanity.
The energies of the
South must be thoroughly aroused, and it has a Government which will give them the most efficient and successful shape and direction.
