Contradicted.

--The item relative to a presentment made by the Hustings Court Grand Jury against John P. Ballard, for keeping an ordinary without license, was copied from the minutes of the Court alluded to. The justness of the thing is denied by Mr. Ballard in a note received from him, he having, on the 30th of last April, paid the Sheriff of the city $2,189.84, the license on the Exchange and Ballard House to the 1st of May, 1862.
