The linen manufacture in Ireland.

--It appears from a paper read before the Social Science Congress that the number of spindles in Ireland running on the manufacture of flax is 550,000, employing 27,000 people. One spindle produces about the same quantity of yarn which two women could do by the old process. The total exportation of linen yarn from the United Kingdom amounts to about two millions sterling per annum. A company has been formed in Belfast to introduce the culture of flax into the Punjaub, India.
