Attempt to poison.

--The Charleston Mercury, of the 13th, says:

‘ A most infamous conspiracy, by four servants to poison an elderly lady, their mistress, reading in Vanderhorst street, proved nearly successful on Tuesday night last. The poison was administered, having been mixed with tea, but fortunately prompt medical attendance relieved the intended victim, who, we are happy to say, is out of danger. The servants, who have acknowledged their guilt, were arrested by Officer Hicks, and are now in jail for trial.
