--In New York, on the 9th, the average of specie in the banks was thirty millions of dollars. Foreign exchange 112½ gold 1½. The stock market is steady, with a fair demand. The cotton market was exciton, and higher. Sales of 2,022 bales of middling uplands are reported.

The British sloop-of-war Rinaldo came up the Roads last night, and reports the Federal frigate Vermont to be lost.
