A lady suggests through the New Orleans Picayune that a company of sixty or seventy tamales be organized immediately for the purpose of attending the sick and wounded, whenever and wherever such services are needed. Messrs. George Morrison and Absalom McGee were arrested in Spotsylvania county, Va., a few days ago on suspicion of disloyalty, and taken to Fredericksburg, where they were discharged without a hearing. The New York papers announce a new novel by Ben. Wood, formerly editor of the Daily News, entitled ‘"Fort Lafayette, or Love and Secession. "’ An improved percussion-cap machine, invented by Wm. M. Wash, has been manufactured in Lynchburg. It will make nine thousand caps per hour. The citizens of Maryland employed in the Gosport navy-yard have organized a company called the ‘"Franklin Buchanan Guard."’ The Baptist Church at Newman, Ga., has offered its bell, weighing 500 pounds, to the Government, to be cast into cannon, in the event that it is needed. The Atlanta Confederacy says:-- ‘ "From all points we receive the most gratifying intelligence of the farmers having resolved to plant largely of corn, peas, and potatoes, and but little cotton this year. Atlanta ’ The value of the property of the Methodist publishing house at Nashville is estimated at $800,000.
