Foolish Priors.

--At, an auction sale Charleston, Thursday last, cheese brou 74a82, black pepper 85, family scap 50, corn brooms $14.50 per lizen thread $5 per lb., canton flannel 47½c. per yard, cotton cards $7.50 per pair, waif skins (large) $1.57a $1.58 per dozen, brogans $3.87 per pair, matches $10a12½ per gross, &c.

It is to be hoped that the goods will be suffered to remain in ‘"first hands."’ If a vessel runs the blockade and brings an assorted cargo, the sale at auction brings in a vast competition, and hence the high prices. When re-sold, the goods will command fabulous prices, and there will be fools enough to purchase.
