An anxious wife.

--A woman visited the Provost Marshal's office on Monday to request that official to restore her truant husband who had wandered off and bestowed his affections (!) and money on another female, leaving the lawful wife unprovided for. The unfortunate female, blessed with the pattern of a husband referred to, having intimated a desire to him to ventilate the cause of her grief in the public prints, he threatened to lick her if she did it. The officers promised to see justice done her.
