Police Court.

--The old saying of a short horse soon curried was well illustrated by the proceedings enacted at the Police Court yesterday. There were but few cases, and they of no special moment. The sitting magistrate, with a sagacity truly commendable, dispatched his customers with a celerity that all long winded justices would do well to emulate The case of John McDormer, charged with stealing four banks of yarn, the property of the Confederate States, was continued for additional evidence.--L. A. Goddin, who had been, summoned up for allowing a stagnant pool of water to accumulate on a lot owned by him, also had his case continued.--Amanda, a slave, charged with stealing a pocket-book containing ten dollars, was committed until to- day, in hopes of finding the owner of the lost funds.
