Smuggling whiskey.

--Within a few days past Detective Officer Hicks, employed by the Assistant Provost Marshal for the Western District, has arrested several women coming in on the Danville train, on suspicion that they were smuggling contraband liquors into the city. A search confirmed the suspicion, and revealed sundry demijohns, canteens, and bladders of whiskey, concealed about their persons, as females only know how. The liquors were confiscated and the smugglers discharged, after an admonition that on a repetition of the offence they would be made an example of.
